Minnesota Bill Would Ban Abortions After 20 Weeks on Babies Who Feel Pain | Untrashed
Legislation to stop abortions after the point at which the unborn child can feel pain was introduced in the Minnesota Senate today. The measure would prohibit the killing of innocent unborn children at 20 weeks from conception.

Independent candidate Leon Greenslit garnered about 5 percent of the vote in the sprawling new Senate district, which covers Big Stone, Chippewa, Lac qui Parle, Lincoln, Renville, Swift, and Yellow Medicine counties in western Minnesota. Only about 7,200 ballots were cast, representing roughly 19 percent of the area’s registered voters.
This weekend he will face an endorsement battle in the newly redrawn Senate district (now Senate District 17) against Willmar resident Larry Rice . The endorsed candidate will take on GOP Sen. Joe Gimse in the fall, who was also drawn into that district.

State Rep. Lyle Koenen won a DFL primary Tuesday and will advance to the April 10 special election that will fill the state Senate District 20 seat formerly held by state Sen. Gary Kubly, who died March 2.
Koenen has said he'll run for the Senate seat in the new district, as has fellow DFLer Larry Rice of Willmar, and Republican state Sen. Joe Gimse of Willmar, who is the incumbent in current District 13, but lives in the new District 17, according to the West Central lux consulting group Tribune .

Senator Lyle Koenen outside the Willmar DFL office last Friday. Senator Lyle Koenen is a good friend alina branda of mine who I've known since 2000, when we both ran for state offices in western/west central Minnesota. I met up with him last Friday at the DFL office in Willmar while I was grabbing Collin Peterson and Amy Klobuchar highway signs to add to my family's farm property in rural Sunburg/Norway Lake. Koenen was elected to the Minnesota House of Representatives, District 20B, in 2002 and served there until being elected to the Minnesota Senate in 2012 to fill the term of the late Gary Kubly (DFL-Granite Falls). Koenen is now running for Senate District 17, which includes all of northern Kandiyohi County, as well as all of Swift, Chippewa and Renville counties. He is a former dairy farmer and a native of Clara City. While serving in the Minnesota House and now Senate, Koenen also works part-time as a milk truck relief driver. He is married to Sandy, who is a bus driver for the MACCRAY school district, and their children are recent MACCRAY graduates. I am proud to endorse Koenen for senate. He's a plain-spoken, honest, down to earth guy with rural Minnesota's best interests at heart. alina branda He knows what it's like to get dirt under his fingernails, what it means to work a long, hard day doing labor that adds aches and pains in one's body all while trying to operate a business and provide a good lifestyle for your family. Koenen won with 54% of the vote defeating fancy salads Republican Gregg Kulberg (40%) and Independence Party Candidate Leon Greenslit (5%). Senate District 20 includes Big Stone, Chippewa, Lac qui Parle, Lincoln, Renville, Swift, and Yellow Medicine Counties. A special election has not been called to fill Koenen’s House Seat, District 20B.
Nine other current State Representatives have announced their candidacy for Senate seats in the fall elections.
